I host and officiate festive non-denominational wedding ceremonies on the beach, both in English and in Spanish. Currently, I am Vallarta Adventures’ principal Wedding Officiant, performing all of their 100+ weddings a year.
Master of Ceremonies / PR Specialist
February 2002 – Present – Netherlands, Caribbean & Latin America
As an independent Master of Ceremonies, I have hosted and directed a wide range of live events, such as weddings, art auctions, pageants and festivals. As a PR Specialist, I’ve created event scripts, PR strategies, public grant applications and artistic concepts for a variety of clients.
1993 – 2013 (20 years) – Curaçao
Hosting, Management and PR of the National Education & Career Fair of Curaçao. I started in my early teens at the first edition of the fair, accidentally becoming ‘the voice of the fair’ when I briefly filled in for the emcee over the PA system. The exhibitors liked my voice so much, that I was asked to emcee the remainder of the 3-day event. I returned as Master of Ceremonies to this annual event until its 20th anniversary.
July 2011 – December 2011 (6 months) – onboard luxury cruise ships
Having previously proven my skills within Holland America Line, I was asked to return to the company to accumulate historical, entertainment and practical information about destinations on a brand new Holland America Itinerary. I advised the Corporate Entertainment Department on content for a new European target market and also designed and tested the destination presentations for the guests.
January 2011 – June 2011 (6 months) – Amsterdam, Netherlands
Advised the Board of Directors on corporate internal and external communications and crisis management. In 2010/2011 Inholland suffered considerable reputation damage, due to suspected fraud issues. I was part of the first line crisis team to not only attend with Public Relations, but also devise inventive marketing strategies and campaigns with immediate effect to overturn the reputation damage incurred.
July 2006 – June 2010 (4 years) – onboard luxury cruise ships
As head of the Entertainment Department, I was responsible for 65 entertainment staff, including a show cast, musicians, broadcasting department, activities staff and more. Besides being one of the main faces and voices of the ship, I was also in charge of entertainment programming, management of events, as well as design and publishing of onboard marketing material and special campaigns.
July 2001 – December 2001 (6 months) – Amsterdam, Netherlands
As an intern, I assisted the PR Managers of the touring musical productions Rex and Titanic, as well as those of the stationary productions Saturday Night Fever and Aida. Among other things, I was responsible for assisting with the opening nights of Titanic and Aida and independently running the nation wide PR of Rex for the second half of the national tour.
